Hello, my name is Nocchi.
Ikebukuro is one of Tokyo’s busiest districts. Ikebukuro has always had the impression of having many distinctive buildings and objects, giving it a more peculiar image than Shinjuku or Shibuya.
This makes Ikebukuro an interesting place to visit and discover something new every time you go there for a photo shoot. In this article, I would like to introduce some of the places I have found in and around Ikebukuro. Please take a look at this article as you walk around and take pictures.
13 photo spots in Ikebukuro
I will now introduce some photo spots around Ikebukuro, but please note that the order in which I introduce them does not take proximity into consideration.
Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space
The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space is one of the best places in Tokyo to enjoy beautiful light. If you like the Tokyo International Forum or the National Art Center, Tokyo, you will like this place too.
The regular light coming through the glass atrium is beautiful, but the design and architecture itself is extremely beautiful.
The angle of the light and shadows differs depending on the season and time of day, so you can visit at various times of the day.
Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park Outdoor Theater
The Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Open-Air Theater, an open-air theater where classical music concerts and dance performances are held, is located right in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space.
The roof of the theater has a unique structure that creates interesting shadows.
Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store
Near the east exit of Ikebukuro is a huge SEIBU sign.
It is also a good place to take interesting pictures as the shutters are closed in a row before the store opens. Please wake up early and give it a try.
Bic Camera PC Building
One of the more unusual spots in Ikebukuro is the Bic Camera PC building.
The exterior of the building is emblazoned with a large cell phone design. The window is a button, and although not visible in the photo, there is an antenna on the roof.
A telephoto lens with a focal length of 10 mm or less is required to capture the entire building.
Sunshine Aquarium
The Sunshine Aquarium is located in Sunshine City.
With some kind of event going on all the time, it is a place where you can enjoy entertainment as well as fish watching.
Of course, it is also a great place for photography.
It is difficult to take good photographs at an aquarium because of the darkness and the rapid movements of the fish.
SKY CIRCUS Observation Deck
SKY CIRCUS Observation Deck is the best place to get a bird’s eye view of the Tokyo cityscape from Ikebukuro.
The view from the 60th floor of Sunshine City is breathtaking.
The Sky Tree can be seen beautifully without being separated from the surrounding buildings because there are not many tall buildings in the vicinity.
The Seibu Main Store is also clearly visible.
The second half continues on the next page.
